Best Pizza in Phoenix: Pizzeria BiancoPizzeria Bianco
As the only pizzaolo (err, pizza guy) to win a la-di-da James Beard Award, you can imagine that Chris Bianco is in a class of his own. He’s a bit new school (pistachios pop up on a rosemary-onion pizza) but old school in the best ways—he makes his mozzarella fresh every day, smokes some of it over pecan wood and then combines it with fennel sausage and roasted onions on a crust that defines perfection. A crusty exterior gives way to a good chew, with hot air trapped in bubble pockets that give the pizza the look of a 3-D topography map. It’s an incredibly impressive concoction, and aside from beautiful sunsets, it’s the only reason we know of to visit Phoenix. ![]() ![]() Jul 29, 2010
